Dr. Clare Costello

Dr Clare Costello is a consultant rheumatologist at Brisbane Rheumatology and a Staff Specialist at Gold Coast University Hospital.
Clare qualified as a medical laboratory scientist (QUT) in 2005 and worked as a multidisciplinary scientist in the Northern Territory before returning to Queensland to commence work at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. In 2010 Clare graduated from the University of Queensland School of Medicine.
As a Queensland Health Rural Scholarship holder Clare gained her rural prevocational certificate in 2012 and was a Senior Medical Officer at Gatton Hospital from 2015 until 2017 when she completed her FRACP examinations.
In 2018 Clare commenced Advanced training programs in General Medicine and Rheumatology. During this time, she gained additional qualifications in Palliative Care (Diploma RACP) and Clinical leadership (Graduate Certificate, Griffith University).
Clare was an Associate Lecturer at the University of Queensland and heavily involved in the Royal Australian College of Physician’s Basic Physician Training Program, coordinating exam training programs and organizing national clinical exams.
In 2021 Clare started working as a clinical trials investigator at Tasman Health and Griffith university.
Outside of work Clare loves to travel, “make things”, and is a film enthusiast.
